Raju Srivastava, a comedian-actor, died on Wednesday after being hospitalized for more than 40 days, according to his brother Dipoo Srivastava. He was 58.
Raju Srivastava had a heart attack while working out at a hotel at New delhi on August 10. He was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS), where angioplasty was performed. He had been on the ventilator since then and had never regained consciousness.
“I received a call from the family about a half-hour ago informing me that he was no longer alive. This is very unfortunate news. He had been fighting for over 40 days in the hospital “According to Dipoo Srivastava.
According to hospital sources, Raju Srivastava was declared dead at 10:20 a.m.
The comedian, who has been a fixture in the entertainment industry since the 1980s, achieved unprecedented success after appearing in the first season of the reality stand-up comedy show ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ (2005).
Raju had previously appeared in Hindi films such as ‘Maine Pyar Kiya,’ ‘Baazigar,’ a remake of ‘Bombay to Goa,’ and ‘Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya.’
He was the chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council.
