A circular regarding the 2025 Cuttack Durga Puja has been released. Directions for the Cuttack Durga Puja have been given by the District Collector. There won’t be a light gate or towering arch constructed above the road.
Reports state that this regulation was put into effect specifically for small roads. These directives were given to the Puja Committees by the District Collector during Monday’s Mahanagar Shanti Samiti meeting.
According to the instructions, the Puja Committee will also make sure that the mandap is secure, that there is no fire or electricity, and that devotees can wander around. Each Puja Committee will provide the administration with a certificate for this.
Additionally, the notice stated that a predetermined design must be submitted to the administration if an arch is being built. The Puja Committees will receive a NOC, or No Objections Certificate, based on this certificate.
A single portal for these submissions will be set up in the Sub-District Collector’s office to streamline the process. Additionally, throughout Puja, there will be prohibitions on the use of fire weapons, laser lights, DJs, and noise levels higher than 65 dB.
In the meanwhile, such directives have not been well received by the members of the Puja Committee. The committee has stated that, should the need arise, it will challenge the District Magistrate’s circular in the High Court.
It is important to note that a Durga Puja gate in Cuttack fell last year. In front of the Netaji Subhas Bose bus station, the gate had been set up. The gate was constructed for Khan Nagar Durga Puja’s Khapuria Industrial Estate.
The gate that was set up as decoration for the Durga Puja at Khan Nagar Khapuria’s Industrial Estate puja reportedly fell. A Pulsar bike, an autorickshaw, and a car were all totally destroyed in the fall.
Thankfully, the accident did not result in any injuries.
