According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm is expected to move west-northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast between Puducherry and Sriharikota on December 9 with a maximum sustained wind speed of 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph.
On December 8, light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls is very likely over coastal Tamilnadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, with isolated heavy rainfall over adjoining areas of south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema.
On December 9, light to moderate rainfall is expected in most places, with heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places and extremely heavy rainfall in isolated places over north coastal Tamilnadu, Puducherry, and adjoining south Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in north interior Tamilnadu and adjoining Rayalaseema.
Most places will likely see light to moderate rain, with isolated areas likely to see heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places likely over north Tamilnadu and Rayalaseema and south Andhra Pradesh on December 10.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Southeast Bay of Bengal on December 8; the Southwest Bay of Bengal from December 8 to 10; the coasts of Sri Lanka from December 8 to 9; and the coasts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and South Andhra Pradesh, as well as the Gulf of Mannar, from December 8 to 10. Fishermen at sea were advised to return to shore or move to a safe area.
