The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) of Sri Lanka reported on Monday that three people were killed and over 21,000 were affected by cyclone Mandous’s adverse weather conditions.
According to the DMC, 19 people were injured and 6,113 families in 16 districts were affected, with 5,639 houses damaged across the island country, according to Xinhua news agency.
DMC Deputy Director Pradeep Kodippili told the media that the damage has already been assessed and that those affected will be compensated.
The DMC stated that the effects of Mandous have been greatly reduced, but it still advised Sri Lankans to exercise caution.
