By October 24, a cyclonic storm is expected to form over the westcentral and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal. It will, however, avoid Odisha and is expected to make landfall near the West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts on October 25, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to the weather service, the Low Pressure Area that formed today is very likely to move west-northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression over eastcentral and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal around October 22 and a deep depression on October 23.
As a result, by October 24, it is very likely to recurve northwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm over westcentral and adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal. Following that, it is expected to move gradually north-northeastwards, eventually reaching the coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh in October 25 skirting Odisha coast.
