Bhubaneswar: The landfall process of Very Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘Yaas’ commenced at 9 AM today someplace on the border of Remuna and Sadar block in Balasore district, stated Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Odisha, Pradeep Kumar Jena on Wednesday.
The process will continue for 3 to 4 hours and is expected to finish by 1 pm today. A wind speed of 130-140 kmph is expected through the landfall which will decrease to 100 kmph after it crosses Balasore to reach Mayurbhanj district.
Under its impact, heavy to very heavy rainfall has been witnessed at many places in North Odisha within the last 24 hours, stated the SRC.
