A low-pressure region has formed over the Malacca Strait near Malaysia, and it is expected to worsen into a depression by November 24, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The system is predicted to intensify further, possibly becoming a cyclonic storm.
The IMD has not issued a warning for heavy rainfall in Odisha on November 26-27.
Experts are keeping an eye on the probable low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal, determining if it will develop into a cyclone and estimating its direction and strength using multiple models. However, no precise prediction is currently available.
Farmers in the state are concerned after numerous weather models predicted a storm and heavy rains near the end of the month. With ripe paddy crops standing in the fields, they are concerned that any cyclone may cause substantial damage.
Meanwhile, another cyclonic circulation is functioning along Sri Lanka’s coast, and it may increase further.
