On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day (July 15), Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced an artificial intelligence (AI) program.
This program is a collaboration between the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the National Council for Vocational Education and Skill, and GUVI, an edutech incubated by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad as part of the Skill India Mission.
“GUVI has curated this programme in 9 Indian languages. This is a good beginning towards dismantling language barrier in technology education and future-proofing our Yuva Shakti, particularly those in rural areas. Encouraged GUVI to curate courses in all Indian languages,” Pradhan said.
The program is intended to “equip youth with frontier skills,” according to the minister’s tweet.
Pradhan stated that technology should not be a prisoner of language and advocated for additional Indian language technology courses. He went on to say that this is a solid start in breaking down language barriers in technological education and future-proofing our Yuva Shakti, particularly in rural areas.
