Diwali 2022 Date and Puja Timings: Diwali, the festival of lights, represents the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and occurs on the day of ‘amavasya’ or the new moon in the Hindu month of Kartik. It will be observed on Monday, October 24, this year.
The five-day festivities begin with Dhanteras and end with Bhai Dooj. On the third day, people join together to celebrate Diwali, also known as Deepavali.
On this day people clean up their houses, exchange gifts, and celebrate with their friends and family by bursting firecrackers. A special prayer is also offered to goddess Lakshmi as this ritual is believed to bring prosperity and good luck.
The Lakshmi Puja Muhurat starts at 06:54 PM and lasts until 08:17 PM. Amavasya Tithi begins on October 24 at 05:27 PM and ends on October 25 at 04:18 PM.
