The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy successfully completed the validation trial of the indigenously produced Multi-Influence Ground Mine (MIGM), a key step in strengthening India’s underwater warfare capabilities.
The MIGM system, which uses several influence sensors to detect and target hostile warships, will be incorporated into the Indian Navy soon. Once deployed, it will act as a strong deterrence to enemy ships and submarines entering Indian maritime borders.
MIGM is intended to improve the Indian Navy’s capability against modern stealth ships and submarines. The system’s production partners include Bharat Dynamics Limited, Visakhapatnam, and Apollo Microsystems Limited, Hyderabad.
The validation trial is a significant step forward in India’s effort for self-reliance in important defence technology, enhancing the Navy’s ability to protect key maritime zones from hostile underwater threats.
