Droupadi Murmu will be sworn in as India’s 15th President at 10:14 a.m. on July 25, Monday. The swearing-in ceremony for India’s first tribal woman president has been meticulously planned. The President’s Secretariat released the itinerary for Murmu’s inauguration ceremony on Friday.
Here’s the full schedule for the new president’s swearing in on Monday.
President Ram Nath Kovind will leave his apartment at 9:17 a.m. for the Kaveri, the committee room. He is scheduled to arrive at 9:20 a.m.
9:22 a.m.: President-elect Droupadi Murmu will arrive in the North Court, where she will be greeted by the President’s Aide De Camp (ADC) and led to Kaveri, where she will be greeted by President Kovind.
9:37 a.m.: The President’s Bodyguard will salute the Military Secretary to the President (MSP).
9:42 a.m.: President Kovind and President-elect Droupadi Murmu will leave ‘Kaveri’ for the Darbar Hall, where they will be led in a procession. The procession will circle the Nandi Bull statue in the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s foyer from the northern side. The procession descends the Darbar Hall steps and arrives at the Saluting Dais in the forecourt. The President and President-elect will take their places on the dais, with the latter on the right.
9:49 a.m.:The President’s Bodyguard will present the national salute at 9:49 a.m. The president will be the one to take the salute. The President’s limousine will soon arrive near the saluting dais. The incumbent president will sit at the rear seat by the entrance towards the dais. The ADC and president-elect will be sitting at the rear seat by the entrance away from the dais.
9:50 a.m.: The President’s limousine will be escorted by the PBG to Gate No. 5 of the Parliament House. Six Sikh will stand guard on the southern side of the Jaipur Column before departing. The route will be Rashtrapati Bhavan’s main gate, Central Vista, Iron Gate 7 of the Parliament House, building gates 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, and finally Gate No. 5 of the Parliament House. Personnel from three services will form a line along the route and present arms as the VVIPs pass by.
The First Lady will leave North Court for the Central Hall of Parliament at 9:50 a.m.
10:03 a.m.: The President and President-elect will arrive in a ceremonial motorcade at Parliament House and will exit through Gate No. 5. The Rajya Sabha chairperson, Lok Sabha speaker, and Chief Justice of India will greet them.
10:05 a.m.: The presidential procession enters the Parliament’s Central Hall.
10:11 a.m.: The home secretary will request permission from the President to read the communication from the election commission, which includes the name of the President-Elect. Following the President’s approval, the home secretary will read the communication.
10:14 a.m.: Both the Chief Justice of India and the President-Elect will rise from their seats. The Chief Justice will administer the oath of office to the President-Elect.
The Chief Justice of India will administer Droupadi Murmu’s oath at 10:14 a.m. She will exchange the seat with Kovind.
10:18 a.m.: The president’s secretary will place the oath register in front of the new president, who will sign it.
10:18 a.m.: Following President’s Permission, the home secretary announces the proclamation.
10:23 a.m.: The new president will give her inaugural address.
10:35 a.m.: The President gives assent to home secretary’s request to end the ceremony.
