Dyson, the British business famed for its groundbreaking vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, and hair dryers, has launched its Dyson Zone noise-cancelling headphones in the Indian audio market. These headphones are the result of more than five years of research and development, and they claim to provide an unrivaled listening experience with ultra-low distortion, superior noise cancellation, and faithful audio reproduction throughout the full frequency spectrum.
Dyson argues that the Zone headphones are unique in that they do not rely on a subjective ‘golden listener’ to judge what ‘excellent’ sounds like. Instead, they employ a scientific technique to arrive at an optimum sound signature by assessing sound reproduction factors.
The headphones also have an impressive battery life of up to 50 hours of continuous playback, which can be fully charged in just three hours. They are equipped with 11 microphones, eight of which are used to reduce noise pollution by up to 38dB.
Dyson says the shape and design of the Dyson Zone headphones were inspired by the shape and design of a horse’s saddle. The headphones are designed to properly transmit weight over both sides of the head, rather than just the top. They are also designed to be flatter than traditional headphones, for both noise suppression and comfort.
The headphones offer a ‘transparent’ mode that allows users to monitor ambient noise and speak with others without having to remove the headphones. The headphones additionally have an additional microphone for telephony, calling, recording, or voice control, which improves voice transmission clarity while rejecting noise from the user’s surroundings.
Air Purification in the Dyson Zone Headphones
The highlight of the Dyson Zone headphones is its air purification capabilities. The headset comes with a removable visor, that gives over your mouth and attaches to both earcups. Each earcup is equipped with a compressor, that pulls air from your surroundings through double-layer filters.
The removable visor that projects cleaned air when traveling in polluted urban areas or on public transportation is possibly the most creative feature of the Dyson Zone headphones. The compressors in each earcup suck air through the double-layer filters before directing two streams of purified air to the user’s nose and mouth via the non-contact visor. Electrostatic filters remove particles as fine as 0.1 microns, whereas activated carbon filters absorb pollutants from urban pollution such as nitrogen dioxide.
The Dyson Zone is available in two models: the regular edition and the Absolute+ edition. The normal version comes in Ultra Blue and Prussian Blue, while the Absolute+ edition comes in Prussian Blue and Bright Copper. The Dyson Zone headphones feature electrostatic carbon filters, a visor cleaning brush, a USB-C charging cable and a visor sleeve. You can buy them online at Dyson.in or at any Dyson Demo store. The standard edition costs Rs 59,900, while the Absolute+ edition costs Rs 64,900.
