Elon Musk has revealed the new verification system’s launch date. According to Musk’s recent tweet, Twitter will launch Verified on Friday next week or December 2. Previously, Musk promised a November 29 launch date but later postponed it indefinitely. He also revealed some information about the verification system.
In response to a tweet, Musk stated that Verified will be launched tentatively next week. “Sorry for the delay, we’re tentatively launching Verified on Friday next week,” he said in the tweet.
He explained the new colour coding system for the verified ticks. Musk, in his tweet said, “Gold check for companies, grey check for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not) and all verified accounts will be manually authenticated before check activates. Painful, but necessary.”
In another tweet, he confirmed that individuals will continue to get a Blue checkmark. He said, “All verified individual humans will have same blue check, as boundary of what constitutes “notable” is otherwise too subjective. Individuals can have secondary tiny logo showing they belong to an org if verified as such by that org. Longer explanation next week.”
Next week, the entire system will be revealed. Musk attempted to roll out the $8 Twitter Blue subscription but had to pull it within hours. Musk later promised that the feature would be “solid,” so it would be released on November 29. He then postponed it until today, when he announced the final launch date.
