Odisha continues to suffer from a severe heatwave, with at least 16 places in the state recording temperatures of 34°C or above as early as 8.30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Talcher had the state’s highest maximum temperature of 38.4°C, followed by Bhawanipatna at 37.4°C and Baripada at 36.4°C. Bolangir reached 36.2°C, followed by Titlagarh at 36°C this morning.

Odisha Govt Inks MoU With IGNOU To Offer Higher Education Courses In Odia Language

The maximum temperatures in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack at 8.30 a.m. today were 34.8°C and 35°C, respectively. Though the highest temperatures in the twin cities were lower than Tuesday’s, the humidity was quite high, making life miserable for residents.

According to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here, the severe heatwave is likely to continue for another three days and some places in the state may experience thunderstorms and rain on Saturday and Sunday.

According to the weather office, heatwave to severe heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Boudh today.

Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in Deogarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Nuapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Nayagarh, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, and Rayagada.

Hot and humid weather conditions are very likely to prevail in Koraput, Puri, and Ganjam.

  • Talcher: 38.4°C
  • Bhawanipatna: 37.4°C
  • Baripada: 36.4°C
  • Bolangir: 36.2°C
  • Titlagarh: 36°C
  • Balasore: 36°C
  • Hirakud: 35.6°C
  • Jharsuguda: 35.4°C
  • Keonjhar: 35.4°C
  • Cuttack: 35°C
  • Sambalpur: 35°C
  • Malkangiri: 35°C
  • Boudh: 35°C
  • Sonepur: 34.8°C
  • Bhubaneswar: 34.8°C
  • Rourkela: 34.6°C

Meanwhile, people, particularly youngsters, the elderly, and pregnant women, have been advised to stay indoors from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and take care to avoid the heat.
