The Regional Meteorological Centre predicts a steady increase in temperatures in Odisha over the next five days, with the heat wave returning by March 29. Currently, the temperature is 2 to 3 degrees below normal, but it is expected to climb and exceed 40 degrees in some locations.
On March 29, a heat wave warning was issued for the Sambalpur, Subarnapur, Balangir, and Kalahandi districts. The weather agency has warned that the temperature will rise again, and the weather will be quite dry for the next seven days.
Manorma Mohanty, Director of the Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre, reported that mild to moderate rain fell in several portions of coastal Odisha over the last 24 hours.
The highest temperature was recorded at Malkangiri at 36.8 degrees, and temperatures above 35 degrees in nine locations across the state.
