Jharsuguda now has the highest temperature in Odisha at 39ºC due to the ongoing heatwave. Nine cities in Odisha reported temperatures at or above 37ºC.
This information was provided by weather scientist Umashankar Dash on Tuesday.
Other cities experiencing excessive heat include Baudh (38.5ºC), Malkangiri (38.4ºC), Angul (37.9ºC), Sambalpur and Paralakhemundi (37.8ºC), Balangir (37.5ºC), Hirakud (37.1ºC), and Titlagarh (37ºC).
Temperatures in Bhubaneswar hit 36.4ºC, while Cuttack reported a lower 34.6ºC.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts no major change in Odisha’s maximum (day) temperatures during the next 4-5 days.
Similarly, minimum (night) temperatures are projected to be steady over this time.
The IMD has also issued a weather warning for fishermen around the Odisha coast that is valid for five days.
