The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning for isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, as well as thunderstorm activity and lightning, over various Odisha districts until June 20.
Currently, the Southwest Monsoon has moved across the North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal. The Northern Limit of the Monsoon travels via certain geographical coordinates, marking its advancement.
A low-pressure region remains over Southwest Bangladesh and neighboring Gangetic West Bengal, with accompanying upper air cyclonic circulation reaching up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. This system is expected to move slowly west-northwestward and become increasingly visible over Gangetic West Bengal and the surrounding area over the next 24 hours.
Residents should remain cautious and take the appropriate preparations to reduce the impact of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. The meteorological agency will continue to monitor the situation and make appropriate updates.
