The state administration has set up a high-level committee to resolve the long-running Mahanadi water conflict with Chhattisgarh.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo will chair the committee, which was created under the authority of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The committee is made up of seven members: Ministers Suresh Pujari, Prithiviraj Harichandan, and Sampad Chandra Swain, as well as government chief whip Saroj Kumar Pradhan and MLAs Niranjan Pujari, Jayanarayan Mishra, and Sofia Firdous.
It is important to note that there have been multiple rounds of negotiations between Odisha and Chhattisgarh on the Mahanadi water dispute. Both states have been asked to settle the dispute peacefully, and the National Green Tribunal has also taken up the subject.
