After much anticipation, the fully-electric Honda Activa has finally been unveiled in its final form. The official name for the battery-powered scooter is Activa e:, and costs will be released early next year. Bookings for the Activa electric will begin on January 1, 2025, with deliveries scheduled in February.
Honda Activa Electric: Design
While Honda’s latest offering retains the Activa’s classic silhouette, its all-electric namesake has a visibly distinct identity with its front apron mounted LED headlamp, a smiling DRL strip on the handlebar, a single-piece dual-tone seat, a chunky pillion grab rail, 12-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, sleek LED taillights, and a flat floorboard.
The e-scooter is available in five colours: Pearl Shallow Blue, Pearl Misty White, Pearl Serenity Blue, Matt Foggy Silver Metallic, and Pearl Igneous Black. Overall, the Activa e: appears more sleeker than its petrol-powered counterpart.
Honda Activa Electric: Features
The new Activa Electric from Honda includes a 7.0-inch TFT instrument display with day and night settings that automatically adjust the screen’s brightness and readability based on ambient lighting. The TFT screen can be operated using toggle switches located on the handlebars.
It also has a smart key with capabilities such as Smart Find, Smart Safe, Smart Unlock, and Smart Start. The Activa Electric comes in two variations, and the top-spec model comes with Honda RoadSync Duo application that offers real-time connectivity and navigation.
Honda Activa Electric: Swappable battery
The main highlight of the fully-electric Activa is the swappable battery technology, which makes Honda one of the few popular two-wheeler manufacturers in India to provide it. Honda Power Pack Energy India develops and maintains portable batteries known as the Honda Mobile Power Pack e.
The Activa e: includes two such swappable batteries, each with 1.5 kWh capacity and a combined range of 102 km on a single charge. Honda will also establish its own battery sharing program, Honda e:Swap, which has already launched in Bengaluru and Delhi and is set to open in Mumbai soon.
Returning to the engine, the Activa e is driven by an in-house developed permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that produces 6 kW of peak power and 22 Nm of torque, resulting in excellent performance. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h in 7.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 80 km/h. There are three riding modes: Econ, Standard, and Sport.
