Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has introduced a new 100cc commuter motorcycle in India. The new Honda Shine 100 is priced at Rs 64,000 ex-showroom at launch. Bookings for the new Shine 100 are now open, with deliveries beginning in May.
The new Honda Shine 100 is powered by a newly developed 100cc air-cooled single-cylinder fuel-injected engine. The engine is OBD2 compliant and can run on gasoline mixed with 20% ethanol. The engine produces 7.4 horsepower and 8 Newton-meters of torque.
The engine is housed in a specially designed diamond frame for the Shine. The new Honda commuter has a 1,245mm wheelbase and a 786mm seat height, making it an accessible motorcycle for many.
The Honda Shine has 12 patents, and the motorcycle is designed for ease of use in any condition. The Honda Shine’s fuel pump is located outside the tank to facilitate service and maintenance, and it also has an auto choke function.
The Honda Shine 100 has telescopic front forks, dual rear shocks, a combi-brake system, alloy wheels, and an analogue twin-pod instrument cluster. The headlight is halogen.
The newly launched Honda Shine 100 appears to be a compact version of the Honda Shine 125 in terms of design. Furthermore, the new motorcycle is available in five color combinations: black with red, blue, green, gold, and grey stripes.
The Shine 100 will compete with the segment leader, the Hero Splendor, as well as the Bajaj Platina and the HF Deluxe. Competitors to the Honda Shine 100 have similar features and equipment as the Shine.
