With rising temperatures, hot and humid weather conditions are expected to remain in Odisha until May 17. The regional meteorological centre has issued yellow advisories for many areas for the next four days.
Hot and humid weather is expected to dominate in one or two locations across the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati on May 14.
Furthermore, the IMD predicts thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds of 40-50 kmph in the afternoon/evening hours on May 14 in one or two locations across the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Gajapati and Ganjam.
According to the IMD forecast for May 15, hot and humid weather are highly likely to prevail in one or two locations in the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
On May 15, the IMD predicts thunderstorms with lightning and strong gusts in various Odisha districts. Thunderstorms with lightning and strong gusts reaching 40-50 km/h are expected in isolated areas of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, and Ganjam in the afternoon or evening. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty gusts of 30-40 km/h are also predicted in the afternoon or evening hours in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Nabarangapur, Kandhamal, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balangir, Kalahandi, and Cuttack.
