Donald Trump appeared in the State Court in Washington on charges of plotting to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the US. During this he called himself innocent. Trump is accused of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct government proceedings, conspiracy to obstruct government proceedings, and conspiracy to violate people’s rights.

A hearing was held in a Washington DC court on charges of criminal conspiracy to remain in power despite losing the 2020 election against former US President Donald Trump. During this, Trump has declared himself innocent before the Indian-American judge. It was Trump’s third appearance in court in four months.

more than a thousand criminals were present

Donald Trump, seeking to contest the 2024 presidential election from the Republican Party, entered a plea of not guilty before Magistrate Judge Moxila A. Upadhyay. Apart from Trump, around 1000 more criminals appeared in the court, who were accused of entering the US Capitol on January 6 and rioting there.

accused in four cases

The former president is accused of ‘conspiracy to defraud the United States’, ‘conspiracy to obstruct government proceedings’, ‘obstructing government proceedings’ and ‘conspiracy against the rights of the people’. Trump was arrested on four counts cited in the indictment by special counsel Jack Smith.

The 45-page indictment was filed earlier this week in Washington DC by Smith, who led the investigation into the former president on behalf of the US Department of Justice.

Trump present with changed gestures

Judge Upadhyay asked the former president in the courtroom , “How does Trump plead?” On this, Trump, who was present with his lawyers, said, “I am not guilty.” The gestures of the former President were seen to have changed a lot in the courtroom. He spoke little during the hearing, answering questions about his name and age. Even most of the time he sat with his head bowed.

acquitted with certain conditions

When asked whether he understood that his words could be used against him, he replied in the affirmative. The judge told Trump that he would be released, but there were conditions that he would have to comply with and appear in court if required. Trump’s next scheduled appearance is before US District Judge Tanya Chutkan on August 28, but he has the option of not appearing in person.

‘Attack on the seat of democracy’

The indictment was issued by a Grand Jury of citizens in the District of Columbia and sets forth in detail the offenses charged. This includes an investigation into the events surrounding the January 6, 2021 riot at the US Capitol. Smith said, “The attack on our nation’s capital on January 6, 2021 was an unprecedented attack on the seat of American democracy.”

Email done before going to court

Trump wrote in an email before leaving New Jersey to appear in court in Washington, D.C., “At approximately 4 p.m. EDT, Biden’s armed Justice Department once again accused his main opponent (me) of no offense.” Will be convicted regardless. This sounds like a chapter you would read from an old history book on the Soviet Union or the Maoists, but sadly it is happening right here in America.”

formally responsible for the efforts

So far, federal prosecutors have filed cases against 1,077 people for the January 6 riots at the US Capitol. This is Trump’s third indictment, but the first time that he has been formally held accountable for his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election following a violent riot by his supporters at the US Capitol.
