The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts the emergence of two low-pressure systems in the next days, one over the Arabian Sea and another over the Bay of Bengal.
According to the IMD, a low-pressure system is likely to emerge over the Arabian Sea on May 21, close to the Karnataka coast. By May 22, this system is expected to grow into a depression, which could then evolve into a cyclone.
Meanwhile, another low-pressure system is likely to emerge around May 27 in the eastern central Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas. This system may also develop into a low-pressure system in the coming days.
According to a weather specialist, the route and severity of the prospective cyclone will become clearer after May 26, allowing for more precise projections.
In Odisha, temperatures are forecast to be hot and humid, ranging from 38°C to 39°C. The state is expected to have thunderstorms, known as Kalbaishakhi, until May 23 due to the effect of a trough line that runs from Punjab to northern Bangladesh. During this time, residents across the state should expect rain and wind.
The IMD has recommended people to keep up with the most recent weather forecasts and alerts.
