Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two locations over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, and Cuttack over the next 24 hours, according to the midday weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) Meteorological
For the aforementioned districts, the IMD has issued a yellow alert.
The bulletin stated that light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are very likely to occur in a few places across North Odisha and one or two places across South Odisha over the next 24 hours.
According to the IMD’s forecast, the sky in Bhubaneswar and its surroundings will remain partly cloudy with the possibility of moderate rain/thunderstorm, with maximum and minimum temperatures very likely to be around 36 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively, over the next 24 hours.
The following is the IMD’s forecast and warning for the next four days:
On Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.05.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 25.05.2022)
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Odisha & South Coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Interior Odisha.
Yellow Warning: 1. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speeds reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur in one or two locations across the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur in one or two locations across the rest of North Odisha, South Coastal Odisha, and Kandhamal. 2. Heavy rainfall is expected in one or two locations across the districts of Keonjhar, Jajpur, Cuttack, and Dhenkanal.
On Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.05.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 26.05.2022)
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorms with lightning are expected in one or two locations across the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Koraput.
On Day-4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.05.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 27.05.2022)
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Dhenkanal and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
On Day-5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 27.05.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 28.05.2022)
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
