Following a brief break, a western cyclonic system is expected to provide light to moderate rain over north and north-west Odisha on Saturday and Sunday. Winter chill is forecast to resume in the remaining portions of the state, with nighttime temperatures dropping by 2°C to 4°C.
The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar has issued an alert for light rain in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, and Nuapada tomorrow, with light to moderate rain expected in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Sundargarh on Sunday.
Meanwhile, severe fog will develop in Jajpur, Kendrapara, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Rayagada over the next few days, significantly decreasing visibility.
Overall, the weather will be dry over the state until January 1, with the formation of a new low pressure region over the Bay of Bengal in the first week of January.
Meanwhile, farmers are once again concerned about the unseasonable rain. Despite the low likelihood of severe rains, persistent unseasonal rains have devastated crops in coastal and rural Odisha. Farmers are concerned that additional rainfall will exacerbate the issue.
