The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts the formation of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which could bring rain to the state and provide relief from the heat. As a result, the weather is likely to change by June 15, signaling the end of the heatwave.
According to IMD, under the impact of a prospective low-pressure system, western and central Odisha are expected to see maximum temperatures 3-4 degrees over average in the next 10-12 days, with certain places perhaps seeing temperatures 5-8 degrees above normal.
Meanwhile, a heatwave alert has been issued for Odisha’s coastal districts from tomorrow till June 10, with temperatures predicted to climb and make the heat unpleasant.
The IMD has also cautioned that westerly winds will cause increased humidity, making the heat feel more uncomfortable. Adding to the problems, temperatures are forecast to soar, with some regions reaching 42 degrees Celsius by June 7. However, weather experts believe that a low-pressure system will provide relief from the heat and humidity.
