PM Modi’s Speech: In his Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid out five resolutions for Indians to follow as the country enters the ‘amrit kaal,’ saying that we must work towards a ‘viksit bharat’ (developed India).
PM Modi addressed the nation from the ramparts of Red Fort, saying that we must eradicate any vestiges of colonialism, be proud of our heritage, and ensure unity in diversity. PM Modi also stated that Indians must do their part to ensure that India becomes a developed nation within the next 25 years.
He referred to it as the “panch pran” — the five resolutions to help India become a developed nation in the next 25 years — and stated that every Indian should focus on developing the country; 100 percent freedom from slavery (100% Azadi from Ghulami); taking pride in Indian heritage; ensuring unity and integrity are prioritized; and every citizen should be responsible.
PM Modi declared that it was a historic day for India as it embarked on a new path with renewed vigor. According to Prime Minister Modi, India’s strength lies in its diversity; it is the mother of democracy. PM Modi unfurled the National Flag ahead of his speech at the Red Fort, amid a 21-gun salute by the indigenously developed howitzer gun, ATAGS. This was immediately followed by a shower of flower petals by helicopters. Earlier in the day, PM Modi visited Rajghat to pay his respects.
