The fifteenth meeting of the Nepal-India Bilateral Consultative Group on Security Issues (BCGSI) examined the expansion of the two nations’ defense and security cooperation.
According to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, the conversations covered a wide variety of topics, including mutual security, defense supply, training and capacity building, joint military exercises, and exchanges, including visits.
The Nepali delegation was led by Bhrigu Dhungana, joint secretary (South Asia) at Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Indian team was led by Anurag Srivastava, joint secretary (North) at India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
The delegations included officials from the respective defence, foreign affairs, and home affairs ministries, as well as Indian Army and Nepal Army directorates.
The BCGSI, which was founded in 2003, is an essential institutional structure for promoting bilateral defense and security cooperation between India and Nepal.
Similarly, on Saturday, Srivastava co-chaired the 5th Joint Project Monitoring Committee meeting on Terai Road developments completed in Nepal with Indian grant help.
Arjun Jung Thapa, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, led the Nepali delegation.
According to the Indian Embassy, the parties agreed that the project had been finished satisfactorily.
It was also agreed that the legalities for the government of Nepal taking over the project should be completed as soon as possible.
Srivastava met with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and other top Nepali cabinet ministers after concluding his commitments in Kathmandu.
