According to data from the Union Health Ministry, India registered 640 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, raising the total number of active cases to 2,997 from 2,669 the day before.
The country’s Covid-19 total is now 4.50 crore (4,50,07,212). The death toll has risen to 5,33,328, with one more fatality recorded from Kerala, according to figures updated at 8 a.m.
The total number of patients who have recovered from the sickness is 4,44,70,887. According to the health ministry’s website, the national recovery rate is 98.81%.
The case fatality rate is at 1.19 percent.
According to the ministry’s website, 220.67 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in the country so far.
Kerala records 265 new Covid-19 cases, one death
In the last 24 hours, Kerala recorded 265 new Covid-19 infections and one death from the disease.
265 of the 328 Covid infections recorded statewide until 8 a.m. today were from Kerala, bringing the state’s active cases to 2,606.
With one death reported in the state, the total number of people killed by coronavirus in Kerala since the virus’s breakout three years ago has risen to 72,060.
Noida reports first Covid case in months
A Noida resident has tested positive for Covid, in a first case of the infection in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar after several months, officials told news agency.
West Bengal records 8 Covid-19 cases
West Bengal has reported eight new Covid cases, and health officials are testing patients for the presence of the JN.1 strain.
One of the eight cases is a six-month-old youngster who has been admitted to Calcutta Medical College Hospital. A 58-year-old Behala resident is admitted to a private hospital in Alipore.
One of the two patients hospitalized to Bellevue Clinic in Minto Park on December 3 is still receiving treatment. On December 20, another patient, a Bhowanipore resident, tested positive. According to hospital sources, one of these patients also has malaria.
