India reports 37,566 new cases in a day, active cases go down further

Each day recoveries continued to outnumber the daily new cases for the 47th consecutive day, with 56,994 recoveries in the last 24 hours, dropping the active caseload down to 5,52,659.

The cumulative tally of positive COVID-19 cases in the nation stands at 3,03,16,897, including 2,93,66,601 recoveries and three,97,637 deaths.

The each day positivity rate, which was less than 5 per cent for 21 consecutive days and was 2.94 per cent on Monday, followed the downward trend on Tuesday as and stood at 2.12 per cent, as per the data.

The health ministry also claimed on Monday the country’s testing capacity has been further ramped up. Till date, more than 400 million tests have been done to detect the viral disease in the country, as of Tuesday, according to data.

The country on Monday achieved a milestone in the vaccination drive against Covid-19 as it overtook the US in terms ofthe totalnumber of vaccine doses administered to date. More than 320 million vaccine doses have been administered in thecountrysince the world’s largest vaccination drive started on January 16.
