The Shri Jagannath Yatra tourist train will depart on Wednesday for an eight-day journey through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha, according to the Railways.
The tourist train will run as part of the Railways’ ambitious Bharat Gaurav initiative, with a focus on the Puri temple in Odisha.
According to officials, the AC train will depart from Delhi’s Safdarjung Railway Station on Wednesday, with a total of ten AC three-tier coaches seating a total of 600 passengers. Tourists will be able to board the train at stations in Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Tundla, Etawah, Kanpur, and Lucknow.
The tour will begin in Varanasi, where tourists will visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, as well as the corridor connecting it and witness the ‘aarti’ performed on the banks of the Ganga.
The train will then arrive at Jasidih railway station in Jharkhand, where tourists will proceed to the Baidyanath Dham Temple. It will then travel to Puri, where it will stay in hotels for two nights. Tourists in Odisha will visit the Jagannath Temple before being bused to the Sun Temple in Konark and temples built during the Kalinga period in Bhubaneswar.
Gaya in Bihar will be the final stop, with a visit to the Vishnupad temple included. On the eighth day of its journey, February 1, the train will return to Delhi.
During its entire journey, the special train will cover approximately 4,000 kilometers.
On board, freshly prepared vegetarian meals will be served. The train has also been outfitted with an infotainment system for passenger entertainment as well as public announcements. The Bharat Gaurav tourist trains are operated by IRCTC, an Indian Railways initiative that aims to highlight religious sites across the country.
For the eight-day journey, IRCTC has set a starting price of Rs 17,655 per person.
