Jawan, the latest film from superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is shattering records and setting new ones. The mass actioner was launched on September 7 and grossed Rs 75 crore all India nett on the first day. According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has already crossed even with that record, earning Rs 81 crore on Sunday. As a result, it is the film with the biggest single-day gross.
Pathaan grossed Rs 70.50 crore in India (with Hindi collections of Rs 68 crore) on its second day of release, January 26, a national holiday. Jawan surpassed the figure on its fourth day, which was a Sunday.
After the historic success of Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan’s second major film this year is Jawan. The spy actioner, which marked Shah Rukh’s return to the big screen after four years, made history by grossing Rs 524 crore in Hindi and Rs 543 crore in total.
Jawan will now aim to easily smash Pathaan’s box office record, creating an epic-but-entertaining box office duel between two Shah Rukh Khan flicks.
Jawan was the biggest Hindi opener of the year, with Rs 75 crore, topping Pathaan, which grossed Rs 57 crore. Jawan also holds the record for bringing in Rs 200 crore in three days. Pathaan did it in four days, while Gadar 2 did it in 5 days.
Jawan also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, and Sunil Grover, with Hindi dialogues written by Sumit Arora. Deepika Padukone makes a cameo appearance as well.
