Jay Dholakia, the newly elected MLA from Nuapada, took his oath of office and secrecy as a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Thursday. Speaker Surama Padhy administered the oath in her chamber.
Dholakia won the by-election by a large majority over BJD’s Snehangini Chhuria and Congress’s Ghasiram Majhi.
Dholakia’s triumph occurred after his father, Rajendra Dholakia, the sitting MLA, died and the seat became vacant. The by-election was held on November 11, and Dholakia won with a large lead on November 24.
