On June 20 to 29, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will hold the first session of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Here are the changes made in the last two years, from attempts to exam centers.
While there is no set age limit for candidates who wish to appear for the JEE Main 2022. It has been announced that candidates who passed their class 12 or equivalent examination in 2020, 2021, or 2022 can apply for the JEE Main 2022 exam.
This does not apply to the institute that the candidate wishes to attend, and candidates must check the eligibility criteria for each participating institute individually in order to gain admission to that specific college/university.
JEE Main 2022: Number of attempts reduced–
The NTA’s most significant change was a reduction in the number of attempts allowed for each candidate. In contrast to last year, the JEE Main 2022 will be held only twice this year. Due to the spread of coronavirus in the country, the JEE Main was held in four sessions in 2020.
Previously, there was only one session of JEE Main, which was later increased to two attempts in 2020. However, due to Covid-19, the number of attempts increased to four last year.
JEE Main 2022 Exam Pattern Change:
This year, JEE Main 2022 will be divided into sections. Section A will include 20 multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Section B will consist of 10 questions on deriving numerical values.
One significant change in the format this year is the addition of negative marking. Candidates will receive four points for each correct answer and one point for each incorrect answer. However, no deductions will be made for questions that candidates do not attempt.
The NTA increased the number of questions from 75 to 90 last year, and candidates were required to attempt any five questions in section B. Last year, however, there was no negative marking.
JEE Main 2022: Exam City Selection-
Another significant change introduced this year is the choice of exam center. NTA has instructed candidates to select any four cities of their choice in which they would be comfortable taking the JEE Main exam when applying. However, the selection of center cities will be limited to either the state of permanent address or the state of present address.
Regional languages:
NTA has announced that JEE Main 2021 will be held in 13 languages. Candidates who choose the regional language, on the other hand, were assigned an exam center in that state. English, Urdu, and Hindi were available in all of the country’s centers.
English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Odia, Malayalam, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu are among the 13 languages.
New registration procedure-
This year, NTA has divided the registration process into three stages in order to simplify it. Candidates must first register on the portal to obtain their application number and password. As part of stage 2, candidates must fill out the application form, including personal information, applying for the paper, selecting examination cities, providing educational qualification details, and uploading images and documents. Candidates will pay the registration fee in the final stage of registration (stage 3).
Previously, registration was a one-step process.
Furthermore, because there was no correction window and multiple entries, as the NTA withdrew this facility. Applicants were not given the opportunity to make changes to their JEE Main 2022 forms.
