Justice Harish took his oath as the 35th Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court on Wednesday. In a ceremony held on the grounds of the Orissa High Court, Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati administered the oath of office.
The oath-taking event was attended by High Court justices, Bar Association members, and other dignitaries.
This comes after the Supreme Court collegium nominated Justice Tandon for appointment as Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court on March 6.
Before the oath-taking ceremony, Justice Tandon and his wife paid a visit to the Puri Jagannath temple, where they were greeted warmly by District Collector Siddharth Shankar Swain, Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinit Agrawal, and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration officials. The couple made prayers to Lord Jagannath and other deities.
Justice Tandon and his wife were presented with a traditional Khandua Pata by district administration and SJTA personnel.
Prior to his appointment to the Orissa High Court, Justice Tandon practiced law at the Calcutta High Court, where he was promoted to judge on April 13, 2010. He earned his legal degree from Calcutta University in 1983 and began practicing as an advocate in 1989.
