Kawasaki has launched the Ninja ZX-4R is priced at Rs 8.49 lakh ex-showroom in India. The sports bike joins the Indian market as a completely built unit (CBU) and comes in only one trim. As a result, it costs Rs 71,000 less than the more powerful Z900, which has a 948cc inline-four engine.
Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R: Inline-four howler
Don’t be fooled by the engine size; the Ninja ZX-4R is driven by a 399cc liquid-cooled in-line four that produces 79bhp with ram air assistance and 77bhp in ordinary mode. It produces 39Nm at 13,000rpm and is paired to a 6-speed transmission.
It’s worth noting that the Ninja ZX-4R’s power output is comparable to the Honda CBR650R’s 86bhp, while the torque is equivalent to the freshly debuted KTM 390 Duke. The Ninja ZX-4R is offered in three varieties worldwide: normal, SE, and ZX-4RR. In India, just the regular version is offered.
Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R: Hardware
The Ninja ZX-4R is built on a trellis frame influenced by Kawasaki’s World Superbike Ninja ZX-10RR racer, as well as the Ninja ZX-10R and Ninja ZX-6R. It has upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock. The Ninja ZX-4R comes standard with dual-channel ABS, dual 290mm front disc brakes, and a single 220mm rear disc brake.
It has 17-inch alloy wheels with 120/70ZR17 front tires and 160/60 ZR17 rear tires. The Ninja ZX-4R features a ground clearance of 135mm and a saddle height of 800mm, according to Kawasaki.

The Ninja ZX-4R is outfitted with a 4.3-inch digital TFT color console that has two display modes: Normal and Circuit. The instrument cluster reads out the gear position, and lap times, and highlights rpm above 10,000. Thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, the instrument cluster can be synced to the smartphone. The Ninja ZX-4R offers four ride modes —Sport, Road, Rain or Rider (customise), traction control and all-LED lights. It is only available in black colour
