Kedarnath Yatra 2023: One of the four pilgrimage sites for the holy Char Dham Yatra is Kedarnath. Every year, thousands of devotees embark on the Char Dham Yatra, which is considered very sacred. The opening date of the door (kapat) is critical for all pilgrims. On the occasion of Mahashivratri, on February 18, the temple’s administrative board announced the date. Kedarnath’s doors will be open to the public on April 25, 2023.
The announcement was made at Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath during a program. When the doors close for the season in November, the deity is transferred from the Kedranath sanctum to Ukhimath for offerings and worship.
On April 27, 2023, Shri Nadrinth Dham will be right after Kedarnath.
The Badrinath Dham is also one of the ‘Char Dham’ pilgrimage sites. The CHar DHam yatra includes visits to four of the most sacred temples in India: Gangotri, Yamunotri, Badrinath, and Kedarnath. Long treks and days of walking are required to complete the journey.
Kedarnath Temple, located on the Garhwal Himalayan Range in the Rudraprayag District, is only accessible by trek from Gaurikund. It is only open for six months, from April to November. Because of its elevation in the Himalayas, the temple is closed every year due to heavy snowfall.
