Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced plans to build a massive steel mill in the Patna area of Keonjhar district.
The investment for this project is projected to be between Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 crore.
On Sunday, the Chief Minister made the news at the 48th Annual Day ceremony at Chandra Sekhar College in Champua, Keonjhar district.
“A mega steel plant will be established in the Patna area of Keonjhar district, with an investment expected to range between Rs 30,000 crore and Rs 40,000 crore. An MoU has been signed with JSW and POSCO for this project. We are in regular touch with all stakeholders to ensure the project is completed as soon as possible,” said the Chief Minister.
In addition to the steel plant, the Chief Minister announced that around Rs 1 lakh crore will be spent in other industrial projects throughout Keonjhar to assist the district’s rapid growth.
“Industrial projects will be set up in several places in Keonjhar, including Barbil, Joda, Champua, Suakati, Anandapur, Harichandanpur, and Champua. The state government is taking all necessary steps in this regard,” he added.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister highlighted the success of the Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025, where the state secured a total investment of Rs 17 lakh crore.
“Approximately 145 MoUs for projects worth Rs 13 lakh crore have already been signed, creating nearly 9 lakh employment opportunities,” CM said.
