Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Friday that the unseasonal rains are a natural calamity, and farmers impacted will receive full compensation from the State calamity Response Fund (SDRF).
Majhi announced today at the Krushi Odisha 2025 inaugural celebration at Baramunda Ground in Bhubaneswar that farmers who lose more than 33% of their crops owing to unseasonal rain will receive monetary compensation.
Referring to the unseasonal rains that hit several districts last month, the Chief Minister said that 6,66,700 farmers suffered crop damage in over 2,26,000 hectares. “The government will spend Rs 291 crore to compensate their losses,” Majhi said.
