A low-pressure area over the Arabian Sea has strengthened and developed into a distinct low-pressure system. According to the India Meteorological Department, the well-defined low-pressure region would likely intensify into a depression within the following 24 hours.
According to IMD scientist Umasankar Das, this system is currently centered over the southern Konkan region, near the east-central Arabian Sea.
In a tweet on Friday, Das stated that the well-defined low-pressure area is predicted to worsen into a depression within the next 24 hours.
“The low-pressure area formed in the Arabian Sea has intensified today and transformed into a well-marked low-pressure area over the south Konkan region adjacent to the east-central Arabian Sea. It is likely to develop into a depression in the next 24 hours”, read his tweet.
This development could bring significant weather changes to the coastal regions, with potential impacts on rainfall and wind patterns.
