The low-pressure area that has formed over west-central and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a well-defined low-pressure area over north-west Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha in the next 24 hours, according to the meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The system is expected to bring heavy rains to Odisha. While several districts are expected to see heavy rain until September 13, an orange warning for extremely heavy rain has been issued for some areas on September 10 and 11.
From 8.30 a.m. on September 10 to 8.30 a.m. on September 11, isolated areas in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Nayagarh, and Cuttack are expected to receive very heavy rain. Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Nayagarh, Puri, Khurda and Ganjam may experience similar weather conditions from 8.30 am on September 11 till 8.30 am on September 12.
