In the 117th episode of his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started a nationwide campaign to commemorate India’s 75th anniversary of the adoption of its Constitution.
He said, “2025 is just around the corner, knocking on the door. On January 26, 2025, it will be 75 years since the adoption of the Constitution. It is a matter of immense pride for all of us. The Constitution that our Consitution makers gave us has stood the test of time. The Constitution is our guiding light. It is the Constitution of India because of which I am here today and am talking to you.”
This year, on Samvidhan Divas, November 26, India celebrated 75 years of the adoption of its Constitution.
To commemorate this milestone, the Prime Minister announced a statewide campaign urging residents to read the Preamble and share their films, instilling a sense of collective pride and unity.
He stated that a special website, http://Constitution75.com, has been established to connect inhabitants of the country with the heritage of the Constitution. He asked schoolchildren and college students to visit the place and participate in the Constitution Day celebrations.
“You can read the Constitution in different languages and ask questions pertaining to the Constitution,” the PM said.
Earlier in a post on X, the PM said that this month’s Mann Ki Baat covers a wide range of topics that will interest all.
The Parliament thoroughly discussed India’s Constitution throughout the last 75 years. Both Houses, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, had discussions in which the ruling party and the opposition engaged in fierce dispute. The debate focused on the meaning and evolution of the Constitution since its enactment on November 26, 1949.
Significance Of Mahakumbh To Call For Unity
In ‘Mann Ki Baat’. during the broadcast, he emphasised the importance of the upcoming Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, scheduled to begin on January 13. He noted that this grand religious gathering promotes unity and will feature a digital Mahakumbh for devotees worldwide.
“The Maha Kumbh is going to be held in Prayagraj from January 13. At this time, mammoth preparations are going on at the Sangam banks there. When we participate in the Kumbh, let us make a resolve to annihilate the feeling of division and hatred in society. For the first time, an AI chatbot will be used in the Kumbh event. All kinds of information related to Kumbh will be available in 11 Indian languages through the AI chatbot. There is no discrimination anywhere, no one is big, no one is small. Therefore, our Kumbh is also the Maha Kumbh of Unity. Devotees will be provided information about government-approved tour packages, accommodation and homestay on their mobile phones…”
Celebrating Indian Cinema’s Icons
During his speech, Prime Minister Modi paid tribute to legends of Indian cinema. He commended Raj Kapoor for showing India’s cultural influence through film, highlighting Rafi Sahab’s lovely voice, which resonated with audiences across genres. Akkineni Nageswara Rao Garu was praised for boosting Telugu film by effectively depicting Indian customs and values.
The Prime Minister also recognized Tapan Sinha’s contributions to society through his creative films. These film legends have played an important role in projecting India’s soft power internationally.
‘Mann Ki Baat’ Reaches a Decade\
As ‘Mann Ki Baat’ approaches its tenth anniversary, PM Modi reflects on its impact throughout time. Contrary to conventional assumption, he argued that uplifting stories and inspiring examples are more appealing to listeners.
The Prime Minister shared his feelings during a recent program that aired on September 29. He emphasized societal issues and highlighted the work of individuals from across India for various causes.
“This show today will make me emotional. It’s flooded me with old recollections…The reason for this is that our 10-year journey with ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is coming to an end. PM Modi stated that ‘Mann Ki Baat’ began on the day of Vijayadashami, October 3, ten years ago.
