The Jimny has been formally introduced by Maruti Suzuki, with prices starting at Rs. 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
The Jimny will be available for delivery across all Nexa showrooms in the country beginning today. The Jimny was initially shown at the Auto Expo earlier this year.

The Jimny (5-door) will be offered in Zeta and Alpha trim levels, with automatic and manual transmission options. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated of the Jimny prices, “We are privileged to introduce the legendary Jimny, a symbol of adventure, into the Indian market.” Since its global debut in 1970, the Jimny has broken stereotypes with its classic style and superb off-road capabilities driven by Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO (4WD) technology.”
He added, “The launch of Jimny (5-door) marks an exhilarating milestone in our SUV portfolio and will play an important role in our goal of becoming the country’s largest SUV maker. We are delighted with the response it has received from both prospective customers and critics alike. It gives me immense pleasure to announce that India will proudly serve as the mother plant for the Jimny (5-door) and will be the first market for its launch.”
The carmaker’s 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 103bhp and 134Nm of torque in the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. The Jimny has a low-ratio transfer case that aids in off-roading. A touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, cruise control, a push start/stop button, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel are all standard features on the Jimny.

Exterior highlights of the new Jimny include circular headlamps with a projector unit, a five-slot grille, fog lights, chunky wheel cladding, grey alloy wheels, rectangular halogen tail lights, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, a high-mounted stop lamp, and black ORVMs.

The interiors of the Jimny five-door come equipped with features such as a nine-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system, a hard-top, dark-green glass, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a three-spoke steering wheel.

Under the hood, the 2023 Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder K15B petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 134Nm of torque. A five-speed manual transmission and a four-speed torque converter automatic transmission are available.
The Mahindra Thar and the Gurkha are the key competitors in the Indian market for the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, with the former being a popular choice among enthusiasts due to its capabilities.
