The midday meal price at Odisha’s primary and high schools has been raised, which is good news for government-run school kids. The Odisha School and Mass Education Minister announced on Saturday. This is effective December 1.
Nityananda Gond, Minister of School and Mass Education, explained that the current action was done in response to the rise in the price of vital items.
According to information received, the government has decided to raise the midday meal price in elementary schools to Rs 7.64 from the present rate of Rs 5.90. Similarly, high school students’ noon meal fees were raised to Rs 10.94 from the current Rs 8.82.
The state government has expanded funding for providing midday meals to about 45 lakh school-aged youngsters in the state. Minister Nityananda Gond stated that this will improve the quality of children’s diet.
Earlier in August 2024, the Odisha government raised the prices of midday meals offered to children in government-run elementary and secondary schools.
