In what could be described as concerning figures for Odisha’s school education syste, as many as 13,058 students from Class X were absent from the Matric Summative Assessment-I (SA-I) conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), the results of which were announced yesterday.
While a total of 5,37,746 students from 8,942 schools filled out forms, 13,058 of them did not appear for the test, according to BSE data.
On the other hand, 3,627 Madhyama students registered for the SA-I, while 583 remained absent.
Those who did not take the SA-I will not be given 40% weightage in the final results, according to a BSE notification.
Only candidates who completed the SA-I application form are eligible to do the same for SA-II.
As many as 143 students were caught resorting to malpractice during SA-I and they will not be allowed to fill up form for SA-II.
