Motorola debuted its latest foldable smartphones, the Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra, in India on Monday. With foldable displays, both devices have a delightful new form factor. With the new Razr foldable smartphone line, the business intends to “mainstream” foldable phones. Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra are priced at Rs 59,999 and Rs 89,999, respectively.
Folding cellphones are now a limited segment of the overall smartphone industry, but Motorola believes that foldables will become more widely available in the future. Its main rival in the foldable phone market is South Korean heavyweight Samsung, which will unveil new foldable phones later this month. In the foldable smartphone area, Samsung remains the market leader.
Both the Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra are flip-style foldable smartphones that resemble the iconic clamshell designs found on older handsets from the 2000s. The business intends to replicate the success of its renowned flip Razr phone from 2004, which became America’s best-selling phone of all time.
The cover screen distinguishes the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra from the Motorola Razr 40. The front screen of the Ultra is the largest external display available on any flip phone. The Ultra’s pOLED cover screen measures 3.6 inches and boasts a 144Hz fast refresh rate. The larger display also allows for new types of use cases like as gaming, music control, and more.
The Razr 40 Ultra features a 12-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide and macro vision sensor that fits up to three times more into the frame, and a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the inner screen for video calls.
Motorola has included numerous special features on the Razr 40 Ultra, including dual capture, which allows users to shoot with both cameras, and mirror mode, which allows users to view the cover display like a mirror with animated filters.
The Razr 40’s exterior display is a significantly smaller 1.5-inch screen, similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. However, unlike the Razr 40 Ultra, it has the same 6.9-inch pOLED foldable display and 144Hz refresh rate.
Despite being a more inexpensive model, the Razr 40 features the larger camera of these two handsets. The foldable phone includes the same ultra-wide/macro combination and selfie cameras as the regular phone, but it also has a big 64-megapixel main camera on the outside display.
The Razr 40 also sports the larger battery of the two at 4,200mAh, compared to the Ultra model’s 3,800mAh cell.
The Razr 40 is powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 CPU, whilst the Ultra is powered by last year’s flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Aside from that, the base model comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Ultra comes with either 8GB of RAM or 256GB of storage.
In recent years, Motorola has attempted to repeat its Razr success with foldable smartphones. Its previous folding phones failed to garner much notice. However, the new Motorola Razr phones are built and developed to impress consumers at a time when smartphone innovation has halted.
Motorola Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra will be sold on Amazon and Reliance Digital Stores. They can be reserved in advance for Rs 999. The business is offering a Rs 7,000 immediate discount when paying with an ICICI Card, bringing the price of the Razr 40 Ultra down to Rs 82,999. For the Razr 40, Motorola is offering a Rs 5,000 immediate discount when paid with an ICICI Card, bringing the price down to Rs 54,999. There’s no cost EMI and Jio benefits of up to Rs 15,000 on new foldables.
