National Girl Child Day 2024: Date and history
Every year on January 24, people celebrate National Girl Child Day, which commemorates the inaugural anniversary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Scheme (Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child) on January 22, 2015. On this day in 2008, the Ministry of Women and Child Development was established. Since that time, India has observed the day with a yearly theme. The project aims to acknowledge the unique challenges encountered by girls in a nation plagued by gender-based violence, dropout rates, child marriage, and educational hurdles.
National Girl Child Day 2024 theme
The government has not yet announced a theme for National Girl Child Day 2024. Notably, the theme for 2019 was ‘Empowering Girls for a Brighter Tomorrow’. My Voice, Our Common Future” was the theme for 2020. In 2021, the National Girl Child Day theme was ‘Digital Generation, Our Generation’.
