The festive season of Navratri 2022 has arrived. The ten-day festival honors and worships Goddess Shakti, also known as Goddess Durga. Navratri, which literally translates to “nine nights,” is observed throughout the country. Maa Shailputri, Maa Brahmcharini, Maa Chandraghanta, Maa Kushmanda, Maa Skandmata, Maa Katyayani, Maa Kaalratri, Maa Mahagauri, and Maa Siddhidatri are the nine avatars of Goddess Shakti.
Every day of the festival is dedicated to a different avatar. This year’s festival began on September 26 and will run until October 5. Maa Shailputri was honored on the first day of Navratri, while Maa Brahmacharini was honored on the second. Maa Chandraghanta was worshiped on the third day of Navratri. Maa Kushmanda will be wosrhiped on the fourth day of the festival.
Maa Kushmanda:
Maa Kushmanda, Goddess Durga’s fourth avatar, is credited with creating the entire universe with her smile. Ku means little, ushma means warmth, and anda means cosmic egg in Sanskrit. According to Hindu mythology, the entire universe, Brahmanda, was created by a single flicker of Maa Kushmanda’s smile. Because she has eight hands, she is also known as the ashtabhuja devi.
The significance of Navratri 2022 Day 4:
Maa Kushmanda is worshiped with red flowers on the fourth day of Navratri. Maa Kushmanda is said to govern the God Sun because she gives him energy and direction.
Maa Kushmanda is also said to live inside the sun because her glow and radiance are as bright and luminous as the sun’s. On the fourth day, devotees perform puja to Maa Kushmanda in order to obtain her blessings for their family. Her devotees receive good wealth, health, and strength from the goddess.
Color of Navratri Day 4:
The fourth day of the festival is yellow, which represents joy and happiness.
