In a surprising development, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) late on Saturday arrested tv comedian Bharti Singh for alleged possession and consumption of a banned drug (marijuana), after her houses have been raided this morning, a top official mentioned.
“We have arrested Bharti Singh and found a little over 86 gms of marijuana from her. Her husband Harsh Limbachiya is at present being interrogated by NCB. We will update on additional developments later,” NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede informed IANS.
Around 86.50 gms of banned drug (Marijuana), which is alleged to be of commercial amount, was recovered from their house within the raids and the duo has reportedly even confessed to consuming drugs.
The NCB zeroed within the couple after a couple of drug peddlers, arrested in an ongoing action late on Friday, revealed the names of Bharti and Harsh.
Armed with the knowledge, the NCB swooped on their houses in at the very least two places in suburban Andheri’s Lokhandwala Complex and Versova and totally search the premises to seek out the banned dope (Marijuana) from there.
Thereafter, they have been detained and summoned for additional investigations to the NCB office the place they reached there in separate vehicles.
On reaching the NCB places of work this afternoon, Bharti Singh briefly advised mediapersons that that they had been “referred to as for some questioning”.
After sustained interrogation of almost 5 hours, late this night, Bharti was placed under arrest, whereas hubby Harsh was still being grilled by the sleuths.
Bharti shall be produced earlier than a designation court on Sunday, although it isn’t clear whether or not will probably be a physical appearance or through video conference.
