The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has cut the qualifying percentage for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 yet again. The NEET PG 2024 qualifying percentile has been reduced across all categories to the fifth percentile.
An MCC statement issued in this regard said: “In continuation of NBEMS notice dated 06.01.2025 and pursuant to the directions of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India vide its letters No. U. 12021/05/2024-MEC dated 20th February 2025, the minimum qualifying percentile for NEET-PG 2024 have been reduced as follows..”
“The minimum qualifying percentile for the candidates belonging to the General/EWS, UR-PwBD Percentile, SC/ST/OBC (Including PwBD of SC/ST/OBC) has been set at 5th percentile,” mentioned the official notification. The notification also noted that there has been no change in the NEET-PG 2024 Rank and percentile score as published on August 23, 2024.
The candidature is purely provisional subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria as prescribed in the NEET-PG 2024 information bulletin, the notification added.
NEET-PG 2024 was held on August 11, 2024, in two shifts for admission to MD/MS/ DNB/ DrNB (Direct 6 years)/ NBEMS Diploma Courses for the 2024-25 admission season. The results of NEET-PG 2024 were announced on August 23, 2024.
Earlier this year, the MCC reduced the cut-off for all categories. Candidates in the General and EWS categories who scored at least 15th percentile were eligible for counselling. The revised cut-off for applicants from the SC, ST, OBC, and PwD categories was set at the 10th percentile or higher. Originally, the NEET PG cut-off was established at the 50th percentile for unreserved categories, the 45th for PwD, and the 40th in reserved categories.
Lowering the qualifying percentage will enable more candidates to take part in the counselling process. Candidates who meet the updated cut-off can learn more about the counselling procedure by visiting the MCC’s official website.
